media enjoyed throughout the month
>> August was a messy month. Not the last glorious month of summer at all. Are adults even allowed summer vacation? Government says no. While my life is in a predicament, there is no denying that when it comes to media, August was excellent for me. I haven't watched this many movies since my Pretentious Years™. So, I'm happy to say that this months '...of the month' is looking good.

This is now my favourite movie. Yes, yes, I have no actual grasp of what makes a good film. I don't really care I'm just obsessed with this film. The main character is an actually nice dude? And Sammi Curr, what a great villian because what the fuck does he actually want? Just an awesome movie, not scary at all though, not gonna lie.
Im laughing but only because Im uncomfortable. Also sad. You think, who'd actually bully a kid like Wiener Dog/Dawn? They're out there. And things become even more tragic when Dawn herself acts in ways she knows she shouldnt. Before I knew it I was caught in her cycle of distress and cruelty, remembering how often this happened before in my life.
When youre thirteen and you want to start a band its so easy to be an asweome and shit friend at the same time. This reminds me of the maturity a lot of my really kind friends had, how much they went under-appreciated. And so, in their memory.
Shocked at how funny this movie is. Very comforting. Very ridiculous.
Minus the homophobia, actually a fantastic film. My first watch of it was years ago and the beginning threw me off and I didnt finish it. Watched it again and suprised by how good it is. My favourite girls in order: Kansas, Fern, Cleo, himbo Jack Bartlett and the Video Store nerds, Diane, Lucy, Hannah, Lisa.
Bowie was so great. One of my friends was a huge fan of his music, remember him getting on the bus in 2017, real upset. Wonder if he watched the Labyrinth...
So fucking funny. Maybe not the funniest, but its up there.

This film began my descent into kitschy 80s cinema. And am I glad. Nothing about this should work and yet. My favourite bit is that the summer camp stays open NO MATTER WHAT! No, I don't care that kids are dying in very gruesome ways, why would that be a problem?
Visually awesome. Quotable. Imperial Teen. It just needed a little extra suspense for me to really love it.
I needed some time to really process this one. Once my watch was complete, I though it was great. I don't think its a bad film now but with time my score has gone a little lower. However, its still a great one with many hilarious bits and uncanny sadness. Should I hold back a tear or laugh? I guess you do both when you dont know whats coming.
Contender for one of the worst films ever filmed. Winner of the most unwatchable post-credit bloopers.
Mental illness is hot when the person is hot. Obviously. Nothing wrong with this sentiment.
I am just too ugly to enjoy this film. Maybe if I was good-looking I would get it. Maybe I would feel anything for all these characters. But alas.
SNL is bad. To all of those who tried to convince me it's funny, how could you!?
Listen, I love nerdy trash. I love Jay and Silent Bob. Mallrats...Well, now I see its all Kevin Smith. Wayne's World was not fun at all, excpet the one guy who was always asleep, he was great.
A very non-sexy sexy song and my most played song of the month. Amazing.
Im so tired of Iris I thoughtd Id never listen to anything Goo Goo Dolls again. Actually, I like a bunch of their tracks that arent Iris is all.
3. [The Greatness and Perfection Of Love - Julian Cope] on World Shut Your Mouth (1984)
This is a masterpiece, we all need to listen to Julian Cope.
4. [Your Own Personal Wedding - Pop Unknown] on Summer Season Kills (1999)
Didnt know I played this song so much this month. And sometimes you dont need other people to be married.
I love Sense Field, this fucking song rules. Is it about Princess Leia? I dont fucking care, all of Building is art.
I got back into Ash recently and I know everyone says Meltdown is not their top album, but I really like it, ok?
7. [Money For Nothing - Dire Straits] on Brothers In Arms (1985)
This is a great song, I mean, everyone knows.
8. [Beatles Song - Sense Field] on Tonight and Forever (2001)
Maybe Tonight and Forever is not as unique and cool as Building but its still an incredible album. This song is melancholy with a deceptively exciting melody.
My god, I am obssessed with 90s alternative rock. This song really is a gem and should not be forgotten.
I think this is my favourite song off of Meltdown, or even my favourite Ash song altogether.

I see why Portis is an undiscovered/underrated gem for a lot of people. It was hard to put down and very funny. Don't know whether to keep reading them by publishing order or not? Im a bit drawn to Masters of Atlantis.
