2025 - February

21.02.25

Pedals [2011]

Rival Schools and me are meant to be forever. Surprisingly not too different from United By Fate but not a recycling at all. My top songs from the album are Wring It Out, 69 Guns, Racing To Red Lights, A Parts for B Actors, and Small Doses. A lot of refering to moviemaking in this one, it's like it was made for me.

18.02.25

Spider Forest [2004]

Filled to the brim with confusion and horror but just as easily making time for comforts and affection between characters. Kind of like a Lynch movie but also has it's own flare. I love a distortion in the spot where reality ends and the supernatural starts. It leaves me asking if any of the bizarre even happened, or if we see things when faced with terrible pain.

18.02.25

Minecraft: Story Mode [2015]

On what grounds is Minecraft Storymode so good? When it first came out I didn't hate on it but I also didn't pay it any mind. Well, the haters were wrong. It's actually super fun and has very likeable characters, basically Lukas and Petra. We played it together with my sister and brother and we were just single-mindedly doing everything to pick the good Lukas options.

17.02.25

Sound of Sky [2002]

The danciest Susumu Yokota record. Exciting but minimal beats with innovative vocals and sound effects. This album deserves more love. Recommend: Three Ripple, Crash Marble, and King Of Darkness.

16.02.25

The Nanny Diaries [2007]

A comfort film. I don't really like ScarJo because of that whole Woody Allen thing but she is pretty cute in this one. And Chris Evans too. These rich people are a special kind of terrible.

14.02.25

Under My Skin [2006]

The pop rock girlies have a grip on me. Me and Avril Lavigne go way back. I saw her live when I was like ten and it was like seeing God. I think Let Go is still my top album, but this one is also very angsty and cool. Listen to Together, Nobody's Home, and Forgotten.

13.02.25

John Wick [2014]

I know everyone loves this movie, I know... but it was so boring. I get that the action carries the whole thing but I didn't find it that cool and unique. My brother does say it ramps up in the other films so maybe we'll watch those too.

05.02.25

21 Jump Street [2012]

RE-WATCH. Such a stupid movie. But it's so funny... and also accurate to how cops behave.

03.02.25

Sunday Love [2006]

I heard of Fefe Dobson but never really checked out her music. That was a mistake! Sunday Love is basically perfect top-to-bottom. I'm addicted. Enjoy: In The Kissah, Don't Let It Get To Your Head, The Initiator, and Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.

03.02.25

The Spirit Room [2001]

Suddenly thought about Michelle Branch and decided to get absorbed in this album. My faves: Everywhere, You Get Me, and Here With Me.

2025 - January

31.01.25

Alien: Romulus [2024]

I'm still so disgusted by the Xenomoprh-Human hybrid, I can't make it leave my mind. Otherwise the movie was just okay though it looked amazing and the pseudo-retro appearance of the camera was great.

30.01.25

Speed [1994]

RE-WATCH. Actually a little mad this one doesn't hit like it used to. Action movies really lose their kick after repeated viewing. Keanu, who I love, really cannot act. I think skill-wise he peaked in Bill and Ted. He's still great. Just not at acting.

30.01.25

Swing Girls [2004]

I have to come out with this... I was a band kid (trumpet, derogatory). We never got a heroic underdog ending though, we just continued to suck. But this movie is so pleasant and warm.

29.01.25

My Cousin Vinny [1992]

One of the best comedies I've seen in a while. It's actually crazy how much characterization done with care can add to the funny parts. Not just gag after gag happening to cutouts but actually funny people in ridiculous situations. Also, no one is beautiful like Marisa Tomei is beautiful.

28.01.25

Summer Season Kills [1999]

Moody and very short album by Pop Unknown. Check out This Guy's Ready for Bed and Your Own Personal Wedding.

26.01.25

The Hangover Part III [2013]

RE-WATCH. I am one of those people that does find the first Hangover funny. Not haha out loud funny but it's not bad. This one though... yeesh, it's terrible.

26.01.25

Sherpa [2015]

I already had no respect for anyone who has anything to do with climbing Mount Everest but we're hitting new levels. Get all the white people out of the vicinity of Everest, please.

24.01.25

tokyo.sora [2002]

You know, I almost don't remember what it was like to live in a big city. Just that it was different. Does it make us lonely? A hive full of strangers? I'm trying to write a good review about this movie but it's really putting me through the wringer.

22.01.25

The Ramen Girl [2008]

We need Brittany Murphy back. She left way too soon. It's a pretty sweet film. Superior to Lost In Translation which I think is trash and bad.

21.01.25

I Come with the Rain [2009]

Maybe this isn't a good movie, or a very meaningful one, maybe all the complexity is surface level style and distraction. But it really doesn't leave me. I keep thinking about it...

20.01.25

Initial D [2005]

The most insane editing of all time. I don't think there's a single trick or technique they did not use in this one. Ofcourse because I wanted a silly experience I watched it with the English dub. Life lesson: dump girlfriend, you must drive car fast.

19.01.25

Poised to Break [2000]

Perfect album front to back by Sunday's Best. Kind of strange they aren't bigger. Death Cab and Jimmy Eat World fans will enjoy. I recommend The Hardest Part, Indian Summer, Look Like A Mess, and Winter-Owned.

18.01.25

Robin Hoow [2018]

My brother is banned from picking movies for movie night. Again. Could not get over Maid Marian looking like she walked out of a Bershka. There's probably Robin Hood-themed porn that has more respect for the original story.

17.01.25

Eragon [2006]

Is this really, really bad? It's just sort of bad. I'm not usually a dragon enjoyer but Saphira was the best.

14.01.25

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra [2009]

RE-WATCH. Lee Byung Hun was so familiar to me but I could not put my finger on it... duh, my childhood obsession G.I.JOE! I cannot tell you why because this movie is a piece of shit. Snake Eyes has molded lips. Fucking ew.

10.01.25

Flow [2024]

Cannot stand movies where cats are in danger, so this was really nerve-wracking. No dialogue should be the standard for animal characters in movies. A very tragic but hopeful story.

10.01.25

Party Girl [1995]

If I partied more, I would be a lot like Mary of Party Girl. No job, no money, always letting my family down. Each outfit worn by Posey Parker is a 10/10 but also kind of insane.

07.01.25

Daria in ‘Is It College Yet?’ [2002]

One of my dumbest habits is leaving an episode of a show or a song of a band I really like for later. Years later... but I finally finished everything Daria. I'm sad that that's all there is, but happy it was in the first place.

06.01.25

Terminator Salvation [2009]

RE-WATCH. I know everyone shit on this one when it came out but I was obsessed with it since I was a kid. The gas station sequence alone is legendary. The world in 2018 sure was like that, huh?

05.01.25

Song in the Air [2003]

My love for Elliott just grows and grows. Drop what you are doing and listen to Beijing (Too Many People) right now.

04.01.25

Squid Game 2 [2024]

Yes, I finally caught up to the second season. Though I think this season lacks the fear inducing nausea of the first, it's still good and I want to know what happens next. I just want Cho Hyun-ju, the old lady, and her dumb son to live.

04.01.25

Left 4 Dead 2 [2009]

I love old games, I really wanted there to be a Left 4 Dead 4 so saying the name would be confusing. Dead for what? Huh?

03.01.25

The Expendables 3 [2014]

Why are we still here? Just to suffer? Every night... I just wish we could stop watching Expendables and go back to the better stupid moron franchise, Fast and Furious.

2024 - December

30.12.24

Snowpiercer [2013]

RE-WATCH. I fucking love this movie and this is a millionth rewatch. Chris Evans actually acting is always a nice surprise (ever since Sunshine) but I think I was actually most invested in Jamie Bell in this one.

29.12.24

The Expendables 2 [2012]

Whatever I did wrong, I will atone, I swear. Please make it stop. I shit you not the bad guy's name is Jean Vilain. How did they get all the army-loving racists in one movie?

23.12.24

Sideways [2004]

This is probably weird to say because I'm not an old man who plays pretty scummy guys with very minor redeeming qualities, but Paul Giamatti is probably one of the most relatable actors to me personally. Anyway, great movie.

23.12.24

Elizabethtown [2005]

Thought this would be worse. Kind of sad that it wasn't, even. Orlando Bloom... cannot act. Kirsten Dunst was very manic pixie, focus on the manic. It even had some heart-warming segments, you know...

14.12.24

The Expendables [2010]

My brother is torturing me. He says we are going to watch all the Expendables movies, then Red and Red 2. What did I do wrong?

14.12.24

Sleepover [2004]

This is actually pretty good. I was put off the terrible dialogue at first, but it grows on you. Julie? Julie Corky?

14.12.24

Roll Bounce [2005]

Everyone looks so cool. I love an underdog story which is why Stick It (2006) is one of my faves of all time.

14.12.24

Starter for 10 [2006]

Terrible hair James McAvoy. The dream socialist girlfriend was there all along, you idiot...

07.12.24

Rise of the Guardians [2012]

RE-WATCH. A holiday classic. Take me back Tumblr era, I didn't know how good we had it.

07.12.24

Unaccompanied Minors [2006]

RE-WATCH. Holiday season in full blast. Back to the classics. Is this film good? No, but it's just airport fun. There is no way the main kid is not Jesse Eisenberg.

05.12.24

False Cathedrals [2000]

My recent obsession is Elliott's False Cathedrals. Silent On Film, Calm Americans, and Lipstick Stigmata are amazing.

04.12.24

Josie and the Pussycats [2001]

A campy mess, but very fun. Alan M is cute and all, but I thought Josie and Valerie would get together...

03.12.24

999 [2009]

Finished 999, June is missing, Clover is dead, and Snake just got burnt to a crisp. I think I may have gotten a bad ending...

01.12.24

Mean Girls [2004]

RE-WATCH. Mean Girls re-watch to start off December. All is well, except what they did to Janice at the end.
